this IS WHAT HAPPENS AT YOUR NOTARY APPOINTMENT:

This is serious business. The State of Oregon does not permit exceptions.

1) ALL SIGNERS MUST BE PRESENT to conduct the service. There are no exceptions to this rule.
2)The notary must confirm identities of everyone signing (see Oregon requirements below).
3) The notary notary must confirm your willingness and awareness to complete the process.
4) All signers must sign the notary journal.
5) The notary will inspect your documents to ensure there are no blank spaces.
6) If all above is properly completed, the notary will complete the notary service.
7) You will make payment via the accepted payment methods (See “Our Prices/Payment types”).

IMPORTANT NOTE: You are still responsible for the travel fee even if one of the steps above fails (see Our Prices): This includes if your identification is not acceptable; if your witness is absent; or if you change your mind about signing a document, such as a Power of Attorney or a Will. (Remember, Oregon notaries are forbidden from providing any legal advice of any kind.)

identification requirements:

Oregon is strict about identification, so there’s no bending the rules. Identification must be government issued, and it must contain your photo and signature. It must be an original - no copies.

If your address has changed, bring billing statements with your name and address at the new address. If the identification being used was issued by an Oregon governmental agency and is no more than three years expired before the notary service date, then Oregon permits its use (except for a Temporary Driver License or ID card - these must be unexpired).

Credible witness - an uncommon situation. If the signer does not have acceptable identification, then a credible witness may be used (contact us if you feel that this may be your situation).

I-9 forms:

I-9 verification is not a notarial service, and does not require notarization. Have your employer contact us to arrange for the procedure and payment (you choose the time and location via our “Contact Us” page).

Identification requirements are strict! Click this link for details: I-9 identification This will download the four page I-9 document for review or print out. It has instructions for you. Usually, only pages 1 and 2 will apply to you (unless you require a translator or you are a rehire).
FOR IDENTIFICATION - See instructions page 2 of your blank I-9. You can use ONE item from column “A”.
If you don’t use column “A”, then you must use both columns “B” and “C”. (The bottom section “Acceptable Receipts” is not often used.)
